For reasons that are not specified, Miguel¿s father loses his job as an engine driver for Renfe (the public railroad company) in Salamanca. While waiting for another assignment with the company, he decides to relocate with his family to Seville.
The family¿s move to Seville coincides with Miguel¿s last year of baccalaureate studies. During this time, and against a backrop of family strife, he goes to a peculiar school where he has series of unusual and memorable experience. At the end of the school year, Miguel¿s father is re-hired by the railway company, and the family moves to a small station in the mountains.
